The woman she posted in November 2018, Zelene Blancas, was a teacher in El Paso, where her school loved her as well as the wider community, According to the New York Times. She died this week of complications from COVID-19 at the age of 35.
Her brother explained to the Times that Blancas had tested positive for the virus on October 20, and she was hospitalized a few days later. She eventually exhausted all of her sick leave and paid leave and turned to the internet to help pay for her health care with a GoFundMe Page.

Blancas, who was otherwise healthy, showed signs of recovery early and was making progress before her condition worsened. She was intubated on November 22, Her brother told CNN.
According to the latest figures released by Johns Hopkins University as of Sunday, more than 350,000 people in the United States have died from COVID-19.
