Tampa Bay Buccaneers celebrate the Super Bowl LV title with a boat show

TAMPA, Florida – Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers celebrated their victory Wednesday with a boat show amid lingering concern over the coronavirus pandemic.

The show began around 1 pm on the Hillsborough River near downtown Tampa. Thousands of fans dressed in pirate gear and lined up on the river on a sunny day cheering the stars like the midfielder. Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski And many other things.

After throwing touchdown passes to Gronkowski at the Super Bowl LV, Brady completed another pass on Wednesday, throwing the Lombardy Cup from his boat into another boat that had a narrow end on board.

The team arrived by bus and took at least four boats.

Mayor Jane Castor reiterated that people attending the show should wear masks in the outdoors and adhere to social distancing rules.

It appears that many were committed to the mask order, but many others did not. There were also dozens of people aboard private boats, kayaks, and other watercraft jostling the river to catch a glimpse of the team. Instruct them to stay at least 50 feet (15 meters) from the boats carrying players.

After Tampa Bay’s 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the title match on Sunday, crowds of people gathered in the city’s entertainment districts. Many of them were seen without masks despite orders being asked to do so.

Brian Ford, Buccaneers’ chief operating officer, said in a video announcement that fans should observe the rules while celebrating the team’s victory.

“It’s imperative that we do it the right way,” Ford said. “We want to do our part to ensure that it is done in a safe and responsible manner.”

Also Wednesday, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis criticized the media when he indicated there was a bias in coverage of the pandemic, particularly the Super Bowl in Tampa.

“You don’t care much when it’s a peaceful protest,” he said during an appearance in Venice, south of Tampa. “You don’t care much if you celebrate Biden. You only care if it’s the people you don’t like.”

DeSantis attended the Super Bowl competition and was sometimes photographed wearing a mask although this had to be done.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
