Vaccines may be rolled out worldwide, but the return of regular international travel may still be elusive. So Singapore came up with a mediating solution: a Coronavirus-safe “bubble” hotel for business travelers.

Connect @ Changi has been announced as the “world’s first bubble facility for business travelers not under quarantine,” and provides business travelers with a space to stay where they can bypass the mandatory 14-day quarantine in the city, according to Business Insider. The only catch? They cannot leave.

However, the facility is designed to provide travelers everything they need for a short stay. “Test-stay-work-meet”: Built inside a massive Expo center originally designed for parties and live conferences, Connect @ Changi boasts 150 hotel rooms, gyms and 40 meeting rooms. Safe from COVID.

The conference rooms, designed to conduct personal business with outside visitors, are separated in the middle by sealed glass panels and separate ventilation systems. People on opposite sides of the glass can communicate via the microphone system.

Passengers are required to take a COVID test prior to their flight, and again upon arrival at Singapore’s Changi Airport. They are then transferred from the airport directly to Connect @ Changi, where they check-in and receive test results via text message for six to 12 hours.

Nightly room rates start at 384 SGD, or about 287 USD, which includes meals delivered to a sealed room outside your door and COVID tests (the hotel has its own on-site COVID-19 testing center, where all guests are tested periodically Throughout their stay (visit).

“Without such a facility, the travel options are essentially binary – either staying home due to travel restrictions, or traveling abroad and enduring long periods of quarantine,” said Robin Hu, chief developer of the project, in a press release. According to Business Insider.
