The crossover returns after two decades
Capcom and SNK’s epic first-person fighting game wasn’t played largely and mysteriously due to the platform it chose, but now everyone will have a chance to see how things started.
SNK announced tonight that SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium will be released on the Nintendo Switch on February 17 worldwide.
Latest member of NeoGeo pocket color choice Comes 26 fighters divided between the distinctive lists of both companies.
Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Art of Fighting, Samurai Shodown, and The Last Blade make up SNK’s side of things plus Athena while Capcom pulls out of Street Fighter and Darkstalkers.
While it was in development around the same time as Capcom’s first fighting game versus SNK, Match of the Millennium is completely different considering it is based on the The King of Fighters R series on NeoGeo Pocket Color.
This of course means that the game uses more and less detailed chibi sprites than their arcade contemporaries, but it is packed with charm and personality without sacrificing the strict controls.

While SNK didn’t say completely otherwise, SNK vs. Capcom likely won’t come with any online functionality like the other titles from the set, but local multiplayer is available.
It’s interesting to see SNK and Capcom’s logos next to each other in the release of the “Gary” game although there’s little reason to hope for anything else on this front at the moment – unless they are planning to launch SNK opposite the Capcom: Card Fighters titles.
Many fighting game fans will probably be more enthusiastic about one of the arcade / console releases on modern devices, but the last re-release we’ve seen in this special series versus the series came from the other side of the arcade with Capcom vs. SNK 2. PlayStation 3 Classic PS2 .
Match of the Millennium is the sixth game in NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection with previous versions of SNK Gals’ Fighters, Samurai Shodown! 2, King of Fighters R-2, The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny and Fatal Fury First Contact.
All other NeoGeo Pocket Color releases are priced at $ 7.99 on the Nintendo eShop, but SNK has not disclosed a price for this piece of the fighting game’s history.
