Writer Mark Wilmer passed away from The Simpsons at the age of 57 after his battles against COVID-19.

Wilmer’s brother, comedian and host of The Nightly Show Larry Wilmore, confirmed his death on Twitter Sunday evening.

The TV writer died of COVID-19, along with other health problems he had been suffering from over the past few years.

“ My cute brother, Mark Edward Wilmer, died last night while fighting COVID and other conditions he has suffered from for many years, ” said Larry.

Mark and Larry were two of five siblings who grew up in San Bernadino County, California in the 1960s.

Mark graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, before starting his television writing career in the 1990s.

He began his writing career on the television adaptation of Harry and Henderson before moving on to Fox’s hit comedy series In Living Color.
