Larry King moved out of the ICU amid the coronavirus battle

Veteran talk show host Larry King, who He was recently hospitalized due to COVID-19A spokesperson said on Monday that he was transferred from the intensive care unit at a Los Angeles hospital while breathing on his own.

David Thiel, a spokesman for Aura Media, a production company created by King, said King had been taken to the intensive care unit on New Year’s Eve and was receiving oxygen but was now breathing on his own.

Thiel said the 87-year-old broadcast legend made a video phone call with his three sons.

“He continues to improve. He and his children thank everyone for the influx of support and cannot wait to bring him home,” the King’s family said in a statement to CBS News.

They also thank the medical personnel and personnel at Cedars Hospital-Sinai and hospitals elsewhere who care for the many people under exceptional circumstances.

King, who spent many years as an overnight radio DJ, is best known for being the host of the “Larry King Live” prime-time interview show on CNN from 1985 to 2010.

As CBS News previously reported, King has been suffering from a number of health concerns in recent years, including suffering a near-fatal stroke in May 2019. King was in a coma for several weeks after undergoing a heart operation that same year. He had a heart attack in 1987 and also fought prostate and lung cancer.
