Details about the fateful Friends episode from Season 2, titled The One After The Super Bowl, were shared Thursday at The Hollywood Reporter, In an exclusive conversation with program creators David Crane, Martha Kaufman, and other notable writers and producers.
Executive producer Kevin Bright shared “Matthew asked her to be on the show”.
“Write me a paper on quantum physics, and I’ll do it,” she wrote.

“What I understand is that Matthew went away and wrote a paper and faxed it to her the next day.”
Writer Alexa Junge, writer on Friends, shared more about those initial exchanges between stars, who were at the height of their careers at the time.
Junge recalls, “They might have met before the episode, but she was interested in him from afar because he’s so charming.”

There was a lot of flirting over the fax. She was giving him these questionnaires like, “Why do I go out with you?” Everyone in the book room helped him explain why to her.
She added, “He could have done really well without us, but there was no doubt that we were in Matthew’s team and were trying to do it for him.”
Co-writer Jeff Ostrov also recalled what it was like with Julia on set, shooting in front of a live studio audience with her soon-to-be boyfriend.

‘I remember standing with her on the sidelines. She kept saying, “Chandler is so funny!” And I’m like, “I’ve written every single one of those lines!” I don’t know if she fell in love with Matthew right away but they quickly started dating.
Perry and Roberts have been linked since 1995, and certainly around the time of filming the special episode, the following year.
