A writer for WB Games Montreal, the team working on Gotham Knights, said the open-world action RPG will have a “very new and unique experience” on the familiar Batman game structure.
In a short interview with Las Vegas Review Magazine, Narrative designer and writer Mitch Dyer said Gotham Knights’ focus on characters other than Batman makes the game more intuitive. On the other hand, it should give this game a “fresh” and “unique” attractive feel.
“Shifting the focus to be around these characters in the wake of this pivotal death that concerns them all, the framework for this story is unique,” Dyer said. “Having this new and unique game in the DC Universe makes it easy to use and share in a way that immediately satisfies.”
Dyer, who previously worked at EA Motive Studio writing narration to simulate Dogfighting Star Wars: Squadrons, also briefly touched on what attracted him to Gotham Knights. It all boils down to the chance to play four other iconic Batman characters.
“I was drawn to the project because I was a fan of it [when it was announced at DC FanDome in August 2020]”The idea of playing four different characters in an open world where Bruce Wayne died is very compelling to me,” Dyer said.
While Gotham Knights doesn’t have a final release date yet, the game is set to drop this year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
