The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry provided an Issue Update and reforms related to the Epidemic Unemployment Assistance Program and the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program. Various issues with our system that we are working on correcting. Issues and Fixes If eligible, funds were released to claimants who had previously submitted for the weeks January 2, January 9 and January 16. Some claimants were facing a USCIS issue related to residency (permanent resident versus US citizen) being actively worked on. We added the base year 2020 for claimants who applied for the PUA after December 27. New claimants will receive individual letters about next steps through the PUA dashboard. Once verified and resolved any pending issues, the payments will be released. L&I is actively resolving outstanding issues and will provide regular software status updates. Affected claimants do not need to take any action at this time. After rolling out the PEUC extension on January 24, L&I identified and repaired the missing PEUC claim weeks for individuals who submitted last benefits for the week on December 26, 2020. Issues and fixes Some claimants were incorrectly transferred from PEUC to EB because they had exhausted PEUC in the week beginning December 26. . We have returned these claimants to PEUC. Some claimants filed for the weeks of January 2 and January 9 before the extension, as a result of which their claims appear to have filed but not received payment. We are working to solve this problem. We are aware that some PEUC claimants did not have the option to file for the weeks between December 26th and the day they reopened their claim. We are processing your requests for previous weeks as soon as possible. General PEUC Extension Information If you were paid into the Extended Benefits Program (EB) in Pennsylvania before December 26, 2020, you must complete your EBUC benefits before an additional 11 weeks before PEUC can be added to your claim, and you will automatically receive an additional $ 300 per week in compensation Federal Pandemic Unemployment (FPUC) – You don’t need to take any action to get these boosts. Claimants who last filed before December 26th will need to reopen their file. The claim and the submission will begin within two weeks. PUA

The launch of the PUA Program Extension on January 22nd has alerted L&I of various issues in our system that we are working to correct.

Issues and fixes

  • If eligible, the funds were released to claimants who had previously submitted for the weeks of January 2, January 9 and January 16.

PEUC

After rolling out the PEUC extension on January 24, L&I has identified and fixed the missing PEUC claim weeks for individuals who submitted the last benefits of the week on December 26, 2020.

Issues and fixes

  • Some claimants were transferred from PEUC to EB incorrectly because they depleted PEUC in the week of December 26. We have transferred these claimants to PEUC.
  • Some claimants filed their applications for the weeks of January 2 and January 9 before the extensions were in effect, and as a result their claims show that they filed but did not receive payment. We are working to solve this problem.
  • We are aware that some PEUC claimants did not have the option to present for the weeks between December 26th and the day they reopened their claim. We are processing your requests for previous weeks as soon as possible.

General PEUC Extension Information

If you were paid into Pennsylvania’s Extended Benefits Program (EB) before December 26, 2020, you must complete your EB Rewards Program benefits before adding an additional 11 weeks of PEUC to your claim.

You will automatically receive an additional $ 300 per week in Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) – you don’t need to take any action to get this increase.

Claimants who last filed before December 26 will need to reopen their claim and will begin filing within two weeks.

PEUC provides additional claim weeks for workers who have exhausted Unemployment Compensation (UC) benefits. Claimants are automatically registered with PEUC after they reach the UC claim weeks limit.

Claimants with additional cases

PUA or PEUC claimants who encounter additional issues with their claims should email uchelp@pa.gov and provide a brief description of the problem, their name as it appears on their claim, and the last four digits of their Social Security number.
